Job Title: Risk and Compliance Officer
Location: Edinburgh
Employment Type: Full Time 5 days in office for first 6 months while training
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Risk and Compliance Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of our risk and compliance framework, acting as the first point of contact for AML and non-AML risk and compliance queries.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing the Risk and Compliance Framework and Plan to support regulatory and internal compliance.
- Maintain and regularly review the Compliance Plan, recommending updates as needed.
- Develop and implement a suite of controls to monitor and evidence the effectiveness of processes and procedures.
- Conduct control testing as per the established schedule and report findings with actionable recommendations.
- Act as the initial point of contact for queries related to data policies.
- Support the creation of processes and training programs for data and business continuity policies.
- Maintain the Data Retention Schedule, ensuring accuracy by liaising with internal stakeholders.
- Investigate data breaches and maintain the data breach log.
- Oversee assigned data protection risk assessments.
- Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance team to ensure all critical activities are covered and cross-skilling is achieved.
About You:
- Operational experience and a genuine interest in risk and compliance, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Proactive and positive attitude, with the ability to take initiative.
- Highly organized with strong prioritization and self-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to analyze and manipulate data.
