Denholm are delighted to be partnering exclusively with our financial services client in the search for a Defect Test Manager on a contract basis.
This is a day rate role, initially for 12 months
You need to be able to start 1st April 2025
This role is primarily remote working, but will require 2 days on client site per month
Accountabilities:
- Assist the arrangement for timely releases of defect fixes to the ST / SIT / UAT / Hyper Care phases.
- Ensure there is an appropriate audit trail for all defect-related risks, issues and decision making.
- Organise Defect Triage meetings for the purpose of assigning the appropriate priority and severity to defects.
- Produce defect metrics daily, weekly and monthly as directed including tracking KPI’s
- Audit the quality of defects and establish root cause
- Ensure defect traceability to test steps.
- Analyse and report on defect trend and themes and develop remediation plan with development team
- Produce plans demonstrating the timeline for fixes to arrive into the relevant Test Level and the tests this then enables
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong communicator with a number of years’ experience working with on-shore teams with onsite experience for up to 5 years (UK preferable). Also requires experience of dealing with offshore teams
- Able to quickly develop and maintain excellent relationships with subject matter experts, application developers, configuration management analysts, IT architects, IT infrastructure team, testers and system integrators.
- Ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative to tight deadlines.
- Planning, monitoring, and control of the defect management related activities and tasks.
- Flexible approach with regard to changes in plans / requirements.
- Hands on experience of JIRA and X – RAY
- Defect lifecycles within JIRA
- Experience of requirement, test and defect management tools and specifically JIRA and X-RAY
- Planning, monitoring, and control of the defect-related activities and tasks.
- Creation of the Defect Management Plan.
- Ensure defects are of the appropriate quality following the internal standards (e.g. they are objective, specific, concise, reproducible, and explicit) while also ensuring the status and priorities are as agreed.
- Chair and drive regular (e.g. daily) defect management calls.
- Liaison with other stakeholders; e.g. programmers, solution architects, to drive the defect resolution.
- Working with the Test Lead drive and coordinate defect retests.
- Summary reports at specified intervals (e.g. daily, weekly, end of cycle or phase).
- Clear reporting of dependencies in terms of test steps / scripts to defects.
- Clear reporting of defect ETAs (estimated fix dates).
- Storage of test deliverables.
