They are now the custodians of the UK’s largest luxury spirits portfolio, the 3rd largest supplier of branded spirits in the UK and the country’s largest whisky supplier. Edrington-Beam Suntory UK’s premium portfolio boasts leading household brands including The Macallan, Laphroaig, Highland Park, Maker’s Mark and Bowmore. They also look after the House of Suntory range of premium Japanese craft spirits. The UK Marketing Director is a critical hire with strategic and operational responsibility for the brand portfolios of both shareholders in the UK and supporting the delivery of Edrington Beam-Suntory’s goal of being the UK’s fastest growing and admired premium spirits portfolio. Playing a key role as part of the Executive Team, you will have four direct reports with an overall team of 50 across Insight, Category Development, Brand PR & Events and Portfolio Management with significant budget responsibility. Building strong relationships with both Shareholders’ Global Marketing teams will be central to your role as you build trust and credibility across all key stakeholders. Through your team, you will provide leadership and direction in the creation of world-class, insight driven brand and channel plans for the entire premium portfolio, focused on recruiting consumers, profitably driving market share growth and delivering the UK budget. Working closely with the Commercial team will be pivotal to maximise growth through all channels in the UK, with a particular opportunity to drive e-commerce.
What does it take to be successful in this role? We are looking for candidates who possess excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, embrace change and be bold in their thinking with high levels of curiosity, as well as working collaboratively to deliver results. Strong commercial acumen is imperative, and current knowledge of the UK market as well as the ability to translate that to working with International/Global teams. We are looking for a proven track record in senior brand and commercial marketing experience with a background in ideally drinks or wider luxury FMCG. Previous experience of working on luxury brands where digital has played a key role in shaping and driving growth would also be highly advantageous. First class communication and influencing skills are essential whilst being able to seamlessly switch between tactical and strategic topics and deliver successfully within the JV structure.
